Happisburgh Lighthouse

The customer's father lived close to a lighthouse in Happisburgh, Norfolk, East Anglia.

They sent me some photos, and I also looked at images online, to create a pattern for a lantern.

After creating the pattern, I cut the pieces from stained glass and wrapped the edges with copper foil. The pieces were then soldered together to fit into the lantern 'frame'.

I also added some decorative wire detail around the light, to resemble the original.

With a candle inside, it appears that the lighthouse is shining.

Large lantern
with iris and daffodil

This lantern was a one-off commission for a hallway. It stands 70cm tall and features the customers favourite flowers.

Garden Panel - Rose

This 90cm tall garden panel was commissioned by a mother for her daughter and son-in-law's anniversary.

The frame and legs are made from zinc, as are the stems of the roses. The other pieces are joined using traditional lead construction, and the entire piece is cemented for weather protection, and given a black patina on the lead.  The heart is bevelled and the rose petals are made from iridised glass that changes colour in the sunlight.
